Last Lipstick Building Drawing!

This is my last day working at InterContinental Exchange where I’ve had the privilege of getting to sit next to a huge picture window that looks out on the Lipstick Building…therefore this is my last drawing on that window! It’s been really fun to draw and paint on the window and play around with the iconic Lipstick Building. I will miss it, and my co-workers, but it is time to go back into painting and dancing full time for a while. All the new posts will be painting on canvas!

Advent calendar, day 24

This is the final day of the advent calendar! I know, I know, this post is early but I’m going to Virginia to visit my family tomorrow and I won’t be around to post. I decided to include a Menorah for Hanukkah in my advent calendar! So this final post has the Menorah with the fifth candle lit (since people began lighting them on Dec. 20th and they light one a day, and one of them is the candle they use to light the others so the one on the right doesn’t count…) and below is the stable in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. Each of the advent calendar drawings are only about 1 inch high and done with a big window crayon so they’re a bit rough but you get the picture (pun intended). I hope you’ve enjoyed the advent calendar adventure! Special big thanks to my friend and coworker Vijaya for helping come up with ideas for the windows.

So, Monday night I had an unfortunate accident with a large, heavy piece of exercise equipment which fell on my big toe. Tuesday they had to remove the nail and do surgery on the nail bed, and the toe is also broken. I’ve been working from home, hence no Lipstick building drawings. Today I just had to do a drawing though, so I used what canvas I have at hand… my TOE!  (special thanks to Tioma for the great concept!)

WARNING: Do not approach without baring your teeth and getting ready to bite down!!

This isn’t technically a window drawing. I had to capture the little sucker under a glass bowl or it would bite my fingers, couldn’t hold it up behind a window. These are dangerous beasts, eat as many as possible to rid the earth of them!!

Harold and his Purple Crayon! One of my favorite children’s books and the inspiration for the Lipstick building drawings…the idea that we can draw our own reality has always been very appealing. In case you don’t know “Harold and the Purple Crayon” you can read about it here: “Harold and the Purple Crayon”

(ps. I know the lines look blue instead of purple. My cameras wouldn’t recognize it as purple so you have to use your imagination!)
