So, Monday night I had an unfortunate accident with a large, heavy piece of exercise equipment which fell on my big toe. Tuesday they had to remove the nail and do surgery on the nail bed, and the toe is also broken. I’ve been working from home, hence no Lipstick building drawings. Today I just had to do a drawing though, so I used what canvas I have at hand… my TOE! (special thanks to Tioma for the great concept!)

The evil, evil medialuna is in Manhattan! AAAA! They’ve followed me here! Everyone must help me eliminate them by eating them as fast as possible!
THE EVIL, EVIL ARGENTINE MEDIA LUNA!
WARNING: Do not approach without baring your teeth and getting ready to bite down!!
This isn’t technically a window drawing. I had to capture the little sucker under a glass bowl or it would bite my fingers, couldn’t hold it up behind a window. These are dangerous beasts, eat as many as possible to rid the earth of them!!

Celebrating winning the U.S. Tango Championship, and giving the winning proceeds to Ballroom Basix, the company that Sid created for teaching ballroom & latin to inner city schoolkids! May we continue to use the title for good things all year long
Sid Grant and Gayle Madeira are the new U.S. Tango Champions!
Sid Grant and I just won the U.S. Tango Championship in the salon category! We will be performing as champions tomorrow night (actually tonight, at the time of posting this!) Saturday, July 23 at midnight, at Stepping Out Studios, 37 West 26th Street 9th floor if you want to come watch. We’ll be posting videos on Youtube soon as well. We donated our winnings of $1,200 to the dance company that Sid created which teaches dance to inner city schoolkids. I’ve pasted their mission statement below and here is their website if you want to donate too! www.ballroombasix.com It’s a GREAT company and very worthy cause and we’re very happy to support getting kids to dance!
BALLROOM BASIX™ is a not–for-profit, noncompetitive, arts–in–education initiative committed to the enhancement of students’ educational, social and fitness skills through the fun-filled Ballroom and Latin dance experience.
By consistently reinforcing the etiquette and respect inherent in partner dancing, our program instills self–worth, physical well–being and cooperation among the children it serves, while simultaneously instructing them in the diverse origins of the dances they learn: historically, geographically and multi–culturally.

Harold and his Purple Crayon! One of my favorite children’s books and the inspiration for the Lipstick building drawings…the idea that we can draw our own reality has always been very appealing. In case you don’t know “Harold and the Purple Crayon” you can read about it here: “Harold and the Purple Crayon”
(ps. I know the lines look blue instead of purple. My cameras wouldn’t recognize it as purple so you have to use your imagination!)

In honor of gay marriage being passed in the great state of New York!
For those of you who don’t know, this is a reference to the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima during World War II. You can read about that historic event here: Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima
